Polymath is a trivia game about how sure you are. You stake points on your own answer before you see the question. Everyone else gets to doubt you. Knowing whether you know it is the other half.
For adults
900 questions across 15 categories and three difficulty tiers. 60-second turn clock, 20-second answer clock, doubt on, and you lose points when you get it wrong. This is the finished, tested game — version 2.3.
Best with a drink in hand and somebody who argues about rulings.
Roughly ages 7–12, with an adult
A separate 450-question bank written for children. Longer clocks that can be paused, doubt switched off unless you want it, big type, and nobody ever loses points.
An adult decides whether an answer counts. That is the point, not a limitation.
| Pub Edition | Kids Edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Question bank | 900 adult questions | 450 separate questions written for children |
| Turn clock | 60 seconds | 90 seconds |
| Answer clock | 20 seconds | 45 seconds, and pausable |
| Default game | 25 minutes, race the clock | 5 turns each, turn-based |
| Doubt | On | Off unless you switch it on |
| Wrong answer | Can cost you points | Scores 0 — never subtracts |
| Type size | Normal | Big type on by default |
The two banks are completely separate. A kids question can never appear in a pub game and a pub question can never appear in a kids game — the build refuses to ship if any question text appears in both.
Every one of the 450 kids questions carries a recorded factual basis stored alongside it — what the fact is and where it comes from. Anything that could not be stated with confidence was not written. The bank deliberately avoids records, rankings and "the biggest / fastest / newest" anything, because a hosted game outlives those facts and would quietly start telling children things that are no longer true.
You can download the whole bank, basis lines included, from the button on the Kids Edition setup screen. It is a plain JSON file.
